A spectacular journey from North to South...
‘Simply Vietnam’ will ignite your wanderlust as you journey from north to south on this fabulous itinerary.
Beginning in the thriving city of Hanoi, this tour takes in the natural wonders of Halong Bay, the ancient capital of Huế, the beautiful riverside town of Hoi An, before finishing off in the heart of vibrant Ho Chi Minh city and the Mekong Delta. An ideal incentive trip that is guaranteed to provide your tribe with unforgettable team experiences.
Days 1 & 2 – Arrive in Hanoi, a wonderfully elegant, colonial Indochinese city. It's vibrant and welcoming, chaotic and charming, but is a must for any group tour to Vietnam. Take time to explore the magical Old Quarter of Hanoi, get your taste buds tingling with some of the best street food in the world and sample ‘egg coffee’… it tastes far better than it sounds!
Day 3 – Travel to Halong Bay, also known as the 'Bay of the Descending Dragon'. A highly popular Hollywood film back drop, (James Bond, anyone?), you are guaranteed to be impressed by the spectacular scenery, a labyrinth of peacock-green peaks jutting out from the pale green ocean. Enjoy a cruise on a luxury junk, staying overnight in beautiful teak cabins and enjoy the magic of this very special place. On your trip, there is plenty of time to take a dip in the sea, seek out hidden caves and islands, visit floating villages and spot oyster pearl farms. You can also try your hand at squid fishing or simply relax on the sundeck, while looking forward to tucking into the catch of the day as you cruise towards a different island.
Day 4 – Return to Hanoi in the evening to experience the Water Puppet show. This is an amazingly quirky experience, and the skilled puppeteers will wow you with the eclectic and amusing show of puppets, making them dash effortlessly above shallow pools of water.
Day 5 – Travel to Huế, Vietnam's capital from 1802 until 1945 and the seat of the Nguyen dynasty. Huế (pronounced 'Hway') is a major cultural treat. Visit the vast, 19th-century citadel, surrounded by a moat and thick stone walls. The citadel contains the Imperial City, with palaces and shrines and the Forbidden Purple City, once the emperor's home. Huế also has modern history - it was the home to the Battle of Huế, which was one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam War.
Days 6 & 7 - Travel to Hoi An. Graceful, beautiful and historic, Hoi An is probably Vietnam’s most delightful town. Once a major port, it has fabulous historic architecture and its dignified riverside setting befits its heritage. You will explore the town by bicycle and have a cookery lesson, hoping to be able to replicate the fantastic, traditional Vietnamese dishes you have been sampling. There is also the opportunity to float down the river on a traditional bamboo sampan, watching dragonflies dart across lily pads, while hearing the incessant chatter of the local monkeys.
Day 8 – You travel to Ho Chi Minh city, an explosion of culture after your peaceful time in Hoi An. You will take time to explore this vibrant and pulsating city, commonly known as Saigon, and immerse yourself in the cultural heart of Vietnam. You will also have the opportunity to explore the iconic Vietcong Chu Chi Tunnels, which is a moving and inspirational experience.
Day 9 - Today you explore the spectacular Mekong Delta, which extends from Ho Chi Minh’s city limits all the way southwest to the Gulf of Thailand. The orchards, paddy fields and swamplands of the Delta pump out more than a third of Vietnam's annual food crop from just ten percent of its total land mass. The backwaters of the town of Can Tho provide the perfect base to explore the floating markets of this rich area, and you will journey by boat, exploring the many canals and rivers. Once you have had your fill, we travel back to Ho Chi Minh to spend your final night.
