Short and sweet, but packs a punch.

The challenge in this 4 day trip is to hike from the coast of this rugged Atlantic island to its highest peak in two days, with some whale and dolphin watching along the way. It is a trip ideal for time challenged trekkers.

Day 1 - London to Madeira

After meeting your Tribal Tracks leader at the airport, you head to Funchal, where you will be met by the local team. Transfer from the airport to your hotel to drop your bags and have lunch, then head off for an exciting afternoon on the water whale and dolphin watching.

We will have a pre-trek brief this evening from the team after supper.

Day 2 - Seixal Beach to Encumeada

After an early breakfast we transfer to Seixal Beach for the start of the trek.  Our route takes us through Terra Chã (Laurissilva forest), and then we begin our ascent of our first peak, Pico Ruivo do Paúl (1639 m).  We descend onto the plateau Paúl da Serra (1500m/1400m), then the Levada do Plaino Velho, Levada do Norte, Encumeada (1007m) and then arrive at our hotel for the evening, the Residencial Encumeada  (900 m).

After a very early breakfast, we begin trekking from Residencial Encumeada (900m) before beginning our climb.  We reach Curral Jangão, Pico Grande (1654 m) and Pico Jorge (1650m), before climbing up to Pico Ruivo de Santana, which at 1862m is the highest summit on Madeira

We then reach the West Face of Pico das Torres arriving at Pico do Areeiro (1818 m, the third highest peak of Madeira) before transferring back to our hotel in Funchal for a celebration meal!
