We're in awe of Team Maggie's

Mount Toubkal, conquered. £30,000 raised for Maggie's.

What was the challenge?

Seven extraordinary women — Laura, Diane, Carol, Louise, Jemma, Lara, and Katy — took on the adventure of a lifetime: a six-day trek through Morocco’s rugged High Atlas Mountains, led by the fearless Kate from Tribal Tracks. Their mission? To conquer the mighty Mount Toubkal, North Africa’s highest peak at 4,167 metres and raise vital funds for Maggie's Centres in the process.

Gale-force winds threatened to halt their summit attempt altogether. But with grit, teamwork, and sheer determination, they pushed through steep ascents, exhaustion, and biting gusts that would send most people back down the mountain.

Against the odds, every single one of them reached the top — a moment of triumph that crowned months of training, preparation, and fundraising. Not only that, they've raised over £30,000 to support people affected by cancer. On charity fundraising treks, we typically ask that participants aim to raise £1000 each for the charity. Most participants exceed this amount, but for a team of seven to raise such an incredible figure shows just what is possible when people passionate about a cause get together to take on a real, life-changing challenge.

An incredible feat of endurance, courage, and heart. We're in awe of Team Maggie's.

Check out the following video, photos and feedback from their trip, and read about future fundraising opportunities with Maggie's:

Feedback

Kate and the team were absolutely amazing at taking care of me when I had my wobbly bits and it was just the best thing to be up there with everybody...just thank you.

Dr Diane Chilangwa Farmer (Maggie’s London Centres Fundraising Board member and Fundraising Chair)

Thank you for all your care in making this trip spectacular. There was nothing that could have been better…the quality of the accommodation the guides. Abraham and his team were wonderful, the food the extra support that was needed to get everyone to the top was seamless added in without needing to be asked. Kate was also outstanding…as a leader but also feeling part of the team. She is terrific.

Thank you so much.

Dame Laura Lee DBE (CEO of Maggie's Centres)

The view was breathtaking, and we all cried together with both sheer exhaustion but also exhilaration. It was such an overwhelming moment, realising what we had achieved; one I will never forget.

It wouldn’t have been possible without this group of incredible ladies. Perfect strangers at the airport just a week ago, we bonded within the first few minutes of meeting and it was the camaraderie, determination, and unwavering support we gave each other that made this challenge possible. All driven by one mission: raise awareness and vital funds for Maggie’s Centres.

The organisation has just been incredible, every single place we've stopped off at has been really thoughtful and working with the people on the ground to make sure the experience has been seamless, it's been amazing.

Wow! I am struggling to find all the right words to describe this feeling (being a comms person, that is hard to admit)! I think proud, amazed and elated, are three I will start with.

Over the last week, I have flown to Morocco, walked over 34,000 steps a day and climbed to the summit of Mount Toubkal - 4167 metres. 🙌

I have met 7 new incredible women along the way and I have also raised over £1,600 for Maggie's in Southampton. As a group, we have raised over £30,000 for Maggie's Centres across the UK 🤩

I did it! 😊🧡💪

What next?

The next exceptional adventure for Maggie's Centres is an ambitious 100km trek across the Sahara Desert. Back to Morocco, but a totally different environment, and a completely different challenge. It departs on 8th November 2025 so there isn't long left if you want to join another small but mighty team. Read more and sign up!

If it's a mountain summit you're chasing, we're delighted to say Maggie's are heading back to Morocco next year with another team of adventurous fundraisers.
