Uganda Highlights
Fun fact, Uganda is almost exactly the same size as Britain! On the Kenyan border, lies Mount Elgon, revered by the Bagisu tribe as the physical manifestation of their founding father, Masaba. Standing at the pleasing height of 4321m, it is a truly special place to trek. Spot wildlife on the way to the summit and plan to extend your stay to visit mountain gorillas in the wild.
Be one of the few to trek to the summit of Mount Elgon, the 8th highest mountain in Africa and a little known, but spectacular peak. An extinct shield volcano which first erupted more than 24 million years ago, it has the largest surface area of any extinct volcano in the world.
Find the source of the White Nile on your way to the start of the trek.
Find out about the local communities and culture as you trek with our local guides and porters on our fully supported trek.
Look out for wildlife as you trek. Elephants, buffalo, and a variety of small antelope inhabit the lower slopes of Elgon, while the dense forest contains primates such as the black-and-white colobus monkey and the blue monkey.
Why not stay on, and do a side trip to see the Gorillas, or a safari in the wonderful Queen Elizabeth National Park.
