What the team have accomplished is nothing short of inspirational
In September, an extraordinary team of adventurers embarked on the Borneo Sandakan Death March and Mount Trusmadi Challenge to support the Swansea-based charity Faith in Families. The Faith in Family family centres in Swansea and Brecon offer several invaluable services, from childcare to lunch clubs, and inspire and believe in their clients to help them succeed.
The adventurous team included former Wales international rugby player Ryan Bevington, Sam Green, Director of Insurance Company Husky Protection, Peter Davies, Managing Director of Blitzer Group and Army veteran, along with fellow veteran and Chair of Cyber Wales, John Davies MBE, and Michael Davies, a cyber security expert from Brecon-based SudoCyber Ltd.
Their journey ended with a courageous attempt to summit Mount Trusmadi, Borneo's second-highest (but arguably a much more difficult) peak. The team faced severe physical and mental challenges, along with extreme weather from the tail end of Typhoon Yagi (!), they were unable to reach the summit. However, their perseverance and resilience made the expedition a truly inspiring achievement and it just goes to show that these challenges are by no means easy.
