If you are looking for a trek that is off the well worn path in Nepal, this is it. Challenging and beautiful, with amazing views of the Annapurna range, this trek has it all.  As a recently re-opened path, the teahouses are all fairly new with facilities to match, and the food is delicious. Without the crowds, I prefer this trek to EBC, as it allows you time to absorb where you are, and to chat to locals, tea house hosts and trekkers alike.

I have no words to describe the experience of standing at Upper View Point and seeing that view. It was a fantastically organised trek and I have already recommended Tribal Tracks to others (and would absolutely do another adventure with you!) Just what my soul needed ❤️

Overall this was a magical experience and I am very grateful for all the hard work that went on in the background to make this happen! Everything was superbly organised and seamless. I will use Tribal Tracks again and they will come with my highest recommendation!

Trip Highlights

A unique experience combining a stunning trek with an opportunity to see the work of the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4300 - 4500m), surrounded by towering, snow capped Annapurna peaks.

Experience distinct changes in scenery as you progress higher; beginning in 'jungle' with bamboo and semi-tropical trees, through expansive rhododendron forests which bloom in Spring, eventually reaching an Alpine environment, with grassy and rocky tops.

Enjoy Nepali hospitality as you stay in friendly teahouses along the way, and try momo and dal bhat!

At a Glance

The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is a challenging trek in the Annapurna region that offers breath-taking views of the Himalaya mountain range.

Reaching an altitude of 4300 - 4500 metres, this once ancient route has been restored and was officially reopened as a trek in its own right a few years ago. The trail takes us along winding paths and up steep steps, through small villages, rice fields, rhododendron forests and past the teahouses, where we will stay. We gain a unique insight into Nepalese life and culture and you will be able to experience the delicious meals prepared by our teahouse hosts. As we ascend, we reach Alpine like terrain and we have exceptional views of the Annapurna massif, including ‘Fishtail’, or Machhapuchhre, to give it its proper name.

Please note that single rooms are not available in Nepalese tea houses.
