Today is World Blood Cancer day

Join the Race Against Blood Cancer

Today is a global awareness day about the fight against blood cancers and supporting those affected by these diseases. It's a time to reflect on the importance of research, support, and fundraising that will in turn help improve the lives of patients and their families.

Fundraising for Race Against Blood Cancer

This November (17-23rd November 2024), organised by Tribal Tracks, supporters of Race Against Blood Cancer can take on the challenge of trekking 100km across the Sahara desert while raising sponsorship money that will all go directly to the charity.

RABC's ultimate goal is to increase the number of people from minority groups who join the donor registry. At present, they are vastly underrepresented. If you're aged 17-55, in good health, at least 4ft 10", and weigh more than 110lb with a BMI of less than 40, you can join the register here.

Fundraisers who wish to raise money for other Blood Cancer charities such as Blood Cancer UK, Anthony Nolan, Bright Red are all invited to join this overseas fundraising expedition.

About the trek

This is a once-in-a-lifetime trek—100km through the southern Moroccan Sahara—for which you will need to train (check out our hints and tips). You will traverse varied terrain, including rocky plateaus, vast expanses of gravel, and, of course, the iconic Moroccan sand dunes. The second day of the trek is particularly challenging, you will need to trek for 9-10 hours over a distance of around 34km — a huge feat in itself, followed by three more days of desert trekking and wild camping under the stars! You will definitely earn your sponsorship money, this is not a holiday, although you will have an incredible experience in the process.

What will it cost?

Taking part in this epic challenge costs £1845 including flights, plus a minimum £1000 sponsorship fundraising commitment per person. Read about Charlie Waller Trust's Sahara 100km to see what type of fundraising target can be achieved — it might surprise you.

Any questions?

As always, feel free to email us if you have any questions. Similarly, just get in touch if you're interested in running a Sahara 100k or Wadi Rum 100k for another charity or group of adventurers.
