A wonderful, remote trek which ends with a bucket list fulfilling trip to Machu Picchu.  This has a more cultural feel to it than the traditional Inca Trail route to MP, and is without the crowds.

Just a wonderful, immersive experience.  As well as being a challenge, I learned so much about the local communities.

This counts as one of the most challenging things I have ever done, but the thought of Machu Picchu spurred me on.  I loved it!

Carol G

Machu Picchu was on my bucket list, and there was something soulful about trekking there, that really added to the experience.  I loved being off the beaten track.

At a Glance

The Lares Trek is an excellent (and we think better!) alternative to the Inca Trail. Taking you off the beaten track with visits to authentic Andean communities whilst being surrounded by stunning mountains, lakes and valleys, this fabulous trek offers a real insight in to the lives of the people of this area now, and also as it once was.

We trek and camp in remote locations, experiencing the beauty of the region around a campfire.  One of the highlights of this route is the exposure to local culture and communities, while also being able to explore lesser known Inca ruins.  We have plenty of time to acclimatise in Cusco before we begin, as we will be trekking at high altitude.
